Can I edit a PDF for free?

Can I edit the existing text in my PDF?

Yes. Choose the Edit Text tool (or press E) and click any line of the document's text. The editor covers the original line with the page's background color and replaces it with editable text that matches the original font, size, and color as closely as possible — change the wording, then press Enter. It works on PDFs that contain real text; scanned PDFs need to be run through OCR first.

Can I move or resize things after I add them?

Yes. Switch to the Select tool (or press V), click any text, shape, highlight, or image, then drag it to move or drag a corner handle to resize. You can also restyle it (color, font, opacity), duplicate it (Ctrl+D), change its stacking order, nudge it with the arrow keys, and delete it.

What kinds of edits can I make?

You can edit existing text, add new text, draw freehand, insert shapes (rectangles, ellipses, lines), highlight content, whiteout areas, and embed images onto any page.

Does editing change my original PDF?

No. Your original file is never modified. The editor produces a new PDF with your changes applied, which you download separately.

Is my PDF kept private?

Yes. Files are processed in memory and never stored on our servers. They are deleted immediately after you download the result.

What is the maximum file size I can edit?

Free users can edit PDFs up to 50 MB. Pro users can upload up to 100 MB and Business users up to 500 MB.

How to edit a PDF in your browser

Open a PDF and pick a tool. Use Edit Text to click any line of the document's own text and rewrite it — the editor covers the original with the page color and drops in matched, editable text. Or add new text, draw, highlight, white-out, place shapes, and insert images. Switch to Select to move, resize, restyle, duplicate, or delete anything you've added.

Every edit is rendered into the final PDF on save, so recipients see your changes as part of the document. Edits are stored client-side until you save — the original PDF never leaves your browser until you submit it for processing.
